Diptongos
Remember: in Spanish vowels are divided into two types: open (a/e/o) and closed (i/u).
A diphthong is a syllable formed by one open (a/e/o) and one closed vowel (i/u).

Remember that syllables with g + ue/ui have an umlaut (two dots) above the u (ü). |

Triptongos
There are also combinations of three vowels pronounced as a single syllable (triphthongs):
i/u + a/e/o + i/u. Remember that triphthongs can also occur among vowels of two words in succession..
